Health & Safety Contractor Standards 2026

Health & Safety Contractor Standards have been updated for 2026. The updated version is live in Jaggaer and applies to all tenders issued from this point onwards.

Welsh Water believes that everyone who works on our behalf, or is affected by what we do, has a fundamental right to return home safely at the end of each day. Welsh Water have a core company value of ‘Safety Takes Every Person’ and want to ensure that everyone remains healthy and safe in the work environment.

Welsh Water are striving to achieve an injury-free environment and have a long-term health, safety, and wellbeing improvement strategy, our "Journey to Zero". Therefore, we will seek to eliminate hazards and minimise the health and safety risks to ourselves and to anyone else who might be affected by what we do.

For us to ensure health and safety throughout our entire supply chain, we may require suppliers to be accredited to the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) or the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS). Additionally, Welsh Water will endeavour to familiarise those who work on our behalf with our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy, including arrangements to prevent injury and ill-health.
