Wateraid

We in Wales are lucky as we can enjoy fresh, clean water straight from the taps in our homes. Sadly not everyone is so lucky with water being in short supply in many regions of the world. Wateraid is aiming to change this.

Can you imagine a world where you turned on a tap and nothing came out?

A lot of people in the world have to walk 3 or more hours to collect their drinking water. Our survival is totally dependent on being able to have clean water whenever we need it –we’re very used to being able to enjoy water in abundance. In fact, each of us uses around 150 litres of water a day for our health and hygiene, compared to 9 litres in other parts of the world.

The truth is, despite water seeming to be everywhere, it is in increasingly short supply in many regions of the world, including Europe. This is mainly because of climate change and people using more water these days than they used to.
